Nokia releasing maps app to multiple platforms

Nokia recently announced its plans on a new global mapping application which it plans to bring to Windows Phone, IOS, Android and Firefox OS.
The service is already available online “here” and when Nokia releases the app on IOS it would be filling in the maps service gap on IOS, which since IO6 has been severely lacking in this area, and if Nokia can pull this out of the bag before Google releases an app, they could well be the leader on IOS.

The release date for Nokia maps is still unknown with Nokia saying its “coming soon”. I haven’t had the chance to play with the online site properly yet but it seems to be pretty good… so far.
